​â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â€‹About the Zero Suicides in Care initiative

​â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â€‹The Zero Suicides in Care (ZSiC)​ initiative aims to support staff and patients in the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Mental Health system by:

• refining policies and models of care to improve suicide prevention skills among staff within acute and community-based mental health services
• providing resources for the process of cultural and system change management
• enabling a holistic clinical approach to support people experiencing mental health issues, as well as their families, to become active participants in their own care and recovery
• fostering a just and restorative organisational culture and strong service leadership to promote safety for patients and staff.

Evidence from similar international initiatives has shown significant reductions in rates of suicide for people within acute and community mental health settings by:

• providing a learning environment that responds to risks
• better aligning prevention factors with known risks and diagnoses.
