Programs and services to help families

Healthy Eating Active Living

Healthy Eating Active Living is a ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Government website helping people in ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø to make simple changes now that lead to healthier lives in the future. Find easy, practical tools and expert tips that can help you and your family get started and stay on track including healthy recipes, lunchbox ideas and access to free programs.

Go4Fun

Refer to Go4Fun Programs for primary-school aged children.

Go4Fun is a free 10-week healthy lifestyle program for ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø primary school-aged children and their families.

Families can participate in either:

Refer at any time via: 

  • the Go4Fun Online website. 
  • Using the referral form in your clinical software – Best Practice, Medical Director, Titanium or Communicare.

Families can also register at any time.

Get Healthy Service

The Get Healthy Service is for people aged 16 and over.

The Get Healthy Service offers free, evidence-based telephone and online health coaching to help people make healthy lifestyle changes. The Service is available to anyone in ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø over 16 years.

Women can access Get Healthy in Pregnancy for tailored coaching during pregnancy and beyond.

Participants can choose regular coaching calls at a time that suits them, with access to on demand resources and online chat.

Support is also available through Aboriginal health coaches, bi-lingual coaches, interpreters, and the National Relay Service.

Referral forms for weight management services

Referral forms for secondary services

Secondary services may be available for children from the local health area who are above a healthy weight. 

Most clinics are multidisciplinary and may include a nurse, paediatrician, dietitian, exercise physiologist or physiotherapist and a clinical psychologist. The clinic frequency is varied.

Translating and interpreting services (TIS) are available to assist with referrals. The free service is available by calling 131 450.

Tell TIS the language being spoken and the name and telephone number of the service.

Referral forms for tertiary services

Currently there is one multidisciplinary tertiary clinic for children well above a healthy weight located at the Children’s Hospital Westmead.

Multidisciplinary clinics are held weekly and include a nurse, paediatrician, dietitian, physiotherapist and clinical psychologist.
