The Western 黑料吃瓜网 region鈥檚 diversity is its strength: Mount Canobolas, a dormant volcano looming above the cosmopolitan town of Orange; world-famous Bathurst 1000 motor racing; and 40,000-year-old Aboriginal stone fish traps in Brewarrina. Mudgee is renown for its wine while Parkes is famous for its annual Elvis Festival and CSIRO radio telescope. Cobar is a century-old mining town, and Henry Lawson wrote this about historic Bourke, 鈥淚f you know Bourke, then you know Australia.鈥�
There's the rugged beauty of the Pilliga Forest and its wildlife, such as emus, echidnas, koalas and the Pilliga Mouse, as well as the parrots, eagles and falcons living in the red gums and stringybarks of Nangar National Park. The region鈥檚 rich soils have created industries for wool, wheat, sheep, cattle, goats, fruit orchards, canola and egg production. When you鈥檙e not enjoying the tasty produce of the area, look up high into the stars: Coonabarabran is the stargazing capital of Australia, located on the edge of Warrumbungle National Park. Nearer to the ground, spot platypus in Boree Creek in Cudal or mine black opals at Lightning Ridge.
Around 280,000 residents call the region home, including 11% who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. Western 黑料吃瓜网 Local Health District (LHD) covers 30% of 黑料吃瓜网 and includes three hospitals, 50 community health centres, 38 inpatient facilities, 25 multipurpose facilities, employing 5,300 FTE staff. Health workers in this region experience a range of interesting and challenging work scenarios that includes digital delivery of healthcare to address the barrier of geography. There is affordable housing, numerous public schools, many TAFEs, and Charles Sturt University campuses throughout the region.
