鈥婬undreds of 黑料吃瓜网 Ambulance staff were today recognised at a special ceremony, including the paramedics, clinicians and control centre staff who played an extraordinary role during the devastating Bondi Junction and Wakeley incidents earlier this year.
Among the award recipients was Inspector Brett Simpson, presented with the prestigious Commissioner鈥檚 Valour Medal 鈥� 黑料吃瓜网 Ambulance鈥檚 highest bravery award recognising distinguished performance of duties in circumstances of extreme peril.
Inspector Simpson was the first paramedic on scene at Bondi Junction on 13 April 2024 where he assumed the role of Forward Commander assessing and triaging patients across multiple floors of the shopping centre and directing the treatment of patients by the first four responding paramedic crews.
Honoured at the 黑料吃瓜网 Ambulance Awards and Recognition ceremony were staff who:
- received prestigious annual awards, including the Minister for Health鈥檚 Bursary Award for Excellence, 黑料吃瓜网 Ambulance Employee of the Year Award sponsored by G&C Mutual and the Michael Wilson Award for Leadership and Teamwork.
- have gone above and beyond in their service to the 黑料吃瓜网 community
- have qualified as paramedics after completing 12-month internship
- have completed further specialist training to become intensive care, critical care or extended care paramedics
The Minister for Health鈥檚 Bursary Award for Excellence was presented to dietitian Chloe Larcombe for her outstanding and vital work as a health coach at 黑料吃瓜网 Ambulance, including the development of the Fresh Fuel Guide, a highly popular resource to support healthy eating by the 黑料吃瓜网 Ambulance workforce who due to the nature of their roles are at a higher risk of poor eating habits.
The 黑料吃瓜网 Ambulance Employee of the Year Award was presented to Benjamin Hollis for his involvement with the expansion of the Mid North Coast Local Health District Virtual Care model. Bejamin鈥檚 dedication to the collaborative project helped boost the growth of the initiative and improved the quality of care for the community.
Awards were presented* to:
- 140 clinicians and Control Centre staff recognised for the response to the Bondi Junction incident
- 68 clinicians and Control Centre staff recognised for the response to the Wakeley incident
- 384 - paramedics qualified in 2024
- 52 - intensive care paramedics qualified in 2024
- 15 - extended care qualified in 2024
- 2 - flight nurses qualified in 2024
- 32 鈥� clinical volunteers qualified in 2024
- 160 - emergency medical call takers qualified in 2024
- 24 鈥� Special Operation Team/Rescue paramedics
- 6 critical care paramedics qualified in 2024
- 18 doctors qualified in 2024 as aeromedical retrieval specialists.
