ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø recorded no new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.
Eight new cases were acquired overseas, bringing the total number of cases in ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø since the beginning of the pandemic to 5,045.
There were 11,050 tests reported to 8pm last night, compared with the previous day’s total of 14,135.
As of 12.01am this morning, new rules apply for people who arrive in ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø from New Zealand.
People who have been in Auckland in the past 14 days are now exempt from hotel quarantine, provided they get tested for COVID-19 within 72 hours of arriving in ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. They must self-isolate in their accommodation until they receive a negative result.
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Health will follow up arrivals from Auckland if a negative test is not recorded for them, to inform them of their obligations.
If a person has only transited through Auckland Airport after flying from another part of NZ, they will not be required to quarantine or self-isolate on arrival in ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Health continues to monitor the situation and will update advice as appropriate to protect the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø community.
With new cases being regularly detected among overseas arrivals, there is still a risk of COVID-19 spreading into the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø community.
Although there have been no locally acquired cases for 54 days now, it is critical that everyone continues to practise COVID-safe behaviours and come forward for testing if they have even the mildest of symptoms.
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Health is treating 53 COVID-19 cases, none of whom are in intensive care. Most cases (89 per cent) are being treated in non-acute, out-of-hospital care, including returned travellers in the Special Health Accommodation.
