COVID-19 (Coronavirus) statistics

As at 8pm Tuesday 19 May 2020, there has been four additional cases of COVID-19 diagnosed since 8pm 18 May, bringing the total number of cases to 3,081. 

There were 7,093 people tested in the reporting period, compared with 5,304 people in the previous 24 hours. 

Nearly 385,000 people have now been tested for COVID-19 in ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, which has one of the highest per capita testing rates in the world.

ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Health would like to thank those with symptoms for coming forward, getting tested and ensuring cases in the community are identified as quickly as possible.

All four of today’s cases were overseas travellers in mandatory quarantine.

There was one person reported as a case who has since been excluded after further testing.

There have been no new cases associated with Anglicare Newmarch House, meaning the total of cases linked to the facility remains at 71 (37 residents and 34 staff). 

There are currently 95 COVID-19 cases being treated by ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Health. This includes three people being treated in intensive care units. Two of them require ventilators.

There are now 2,631 people who have recovered from COVID-19 in ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.

There has been one COVID-related death in the 24-hour reporting period. A 93-year-old woman died, who was a resident of Newmarch House. Her death is considered to be COVID-related. The total number of deaths in ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø is 49.

ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Health send condolences to her family.

ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Health is urging people with symptoms, including mild symptoms, to be tested to ensure as many cases of COVID-19 in the community are identified as quickly as possible.

This is particularly important in the Hills and Penrith local government areas to help identify cases and understand transmission. All areas of concern for community transmission in ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø are publicly available and listed at areas of concern for community transmission in ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.
