â¶Ä‹Working in rural and remote ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø offers many personal and professional benefits and you’ll be backed by Australia’s largest health system. ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Health’s midwifery sign-on bonus is offered to experienced midwives living in metro ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, interstate, or internationally who want to relocate and work in rural ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø. â¶Ä‹
The sign-on bonus is part of the Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme and is offered to midwives starting with ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Health in locations that have critical-to-fill roles.
You could receive up to $20,000 as a flat-rate sign-on bonus and help deliver outcomes that matter most to remote parts of our ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø community.
The midwifery sign-on bonus is open to registered midwives starting work with ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Health in an Commonwealth Government Modified Monash Model (MM) level 3 to level 7 location.
An MM3 location is a large rural town with 15,000 to 50,000 people like Goulburn or Lismore. Locations that are MM5 to MM7 are very remote communities far from regional centres, or offshore on nearby islands like Lord Howe Island or Lightning Ridge. Visit Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme for more information.

You must relocate and start work with ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Health in an eligible location and role between 30 September 2024 and 30 September 2025.
The $20,000 sign-on bonus is based on full-time equivalent hours for a health worker (average 38 hours a week over 12 months).
Employees who do not work full-time will be paid a pro-rata amount based on their contracted ordinary working hours.
You must commit to working for 18 months in your role with ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Health. You must repay a percentage of the sign-on bonus relative to your time served if you leave before the 18-month commitment.
Your sign-on bonus will be paid as a lump sum through payroll once you start work with ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Health as a midwife in an eligible location and role.
The sign-on bonus is paid as a result of your employment with ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Health and is subject to PAYG withholding.
We recommend discussing potential incentives or any you already receive with a financial advisor. ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Health does not provide financial and tax advice.
You are eligible to receive other incentives and benefits that are entitlements under your industrial award. Your health organisation may also discuss further accommodation benefits if you are relocating.
You may also be eligible for other incentives and benefits under the scheme after 12 months of service. The value of your incentive package will depend on the MM classification of your location and the vacancy classification of your role. You can learn more about incentives and benefits on offer at Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.
Registered midwives who move to another location within 2 years of commencing will need to be assessed according to the RHWIS policy directive to determine if they are eligible for a subsequent incentive package.
